#1 The Neptunes x Korg Triton
This is the first installment of a collection honoring my favorite producers in conjunction with an iconic piece of gear that played an instrumental (no pun) part in their sound at one point or another.
Up first, The Neptunes x Korg Triton.
I attempted to combine a few different eras of Pharrell into this. The trucker hat and porn ‘stache pay tribute to the early 2000s (“In Search Of…,“ “Wait a Minute”- Ray J Feat. Lil Kim, Mystikal, etc)” , while the Bape/ Ice Cream clothing serve as remembrance to mid 2000s (“In My Mind,” “Hell Hath No Fury,” etc). And then Chad has always been sort of the unsung hero, so I wanted to take time to give him his flowers.
Finally, if you’ve ever went through the presets on a Korg Triton, you’re sure to recognize many familiar sounds from some of The Neptunes’ biggest hits over the years.
